Air quality in the United States’ smoggiest city has dramatically improved after the coronavirus pandemic made people stay home and off its normally-clogged roads. Stunned residents of Los Angeles shared graphics from air quality monitors on Wednesday, with each area of the sprawling city marked with a green dot, meaning air quality is good, and safe for everyone to be outside in. The city, famed for its hours-long traffic jams and poor public transport, has been deserted in recent days as coronavirus has gripped California, with many residents choosing to work from home, and others laid off as bars, restaurants and clubs were ordered to close.
